Egg – floor lamp, opal glass (matt, glossy), steel, powder-coated lacquer (red, black) or glossy nickel/chrome A modernist, a little unconventionally, embarked on a replica of a floor lamp in the Brussels style. The luminaire was probably manufactured by the Napako company. This luminaire was created at a time when designers were struggling with various restrictions and a lack of raw materials, like all Czechoslovak manufacturers of that time. Fortunately, they were strongly inclined to minimalist shape expression, they admired Czech functionalism. Although they liked to build on the existing types of lighting fixtures from the 1930s, they also reflected the new style trends of the 1950s, which required rounded, organic shapes. In the early 1960s, they were influenced by the playful Brussels style. The designs were structurally simple. The interior lighting fixtures combined with plastic and glass well reflected the fashion trend from organic round shapes to a more playful geometric expression. Metal stand structures made of thin round profiles were mainly produced in black, white or red. Later designs were characterized by austerity of expression and purity of lines. The "Egg" luminaire is part of an above-average collection of luminaires from the 1960s and it is easy to imagine it in a contemporary interior concept.
