"Jewellery for Janju is not just a visual thing, it has to have a deeper meaning. All the collections are in some way based on her personal life, she calls them her diaries. Her work is inspired by her study of shamanism, symbolism or white magic, as well as her childhood, dreams and fairy tales. Her greatest muse, however, is nature. Each of Janja's collections is unique and focuses on different themes. The designer also creates bespoke jewellery. She exhibits her work all over the world, from Prague to Florence to New York." Janja Prokić was born in Belgrade, Serbia and has lived in Prague since the age of nine. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of painter Vladimír Skrepl, at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of sculptor Kurt Gebauer and graduated from the studio of K.O.V. designer Eva Eisler. She has been making jewellery since 2011, when she was nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award for her LURE collection. This award was followed by several nominations, culminating three years later with her winning the Jewellery Designer of the Year 2014 for her Hidden Place collection and 2018 for her HOMA collection. Janja Prokić is one of the most awarded designers in our country.
